     O Generous Giver, Come

Scripture

1 Corinthians 1:5-7  In every way you were enriched in Christ . . .so that you are not lacking in                                                     any spiritual gift.

Prayerful Reflection

O Generous Giver, Come~
Open our hearts in gratitude
for the wondrous gifts and blessings
you impart to human hearts.
Make us to recognize and remember
the many times and ways
that you have answered our prayers,
the many people and acts
that reveal your love for us.
May our recognition and gratitude
of all your blessings
fill us with hope,
and compel us to be a blessing for others.
Amen.

Antiphon

     O Restorer of Lives, Come

 Scripture

Psalm 80:3  Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved!

 Prayerful Reflection

 O Restorer of Lives, Come~
Grant us renewed hope
in our experiences of loss:
loss of loved ones; loss of hopes and dreams;
loss of direction or security;
loss of health or the vitality of youth.
When the grief seems unbearable,
when the longing for the past feels over-powering,
restore us, Holy One.
You, who were born to save,
save us from despair.
Grant us vision to see fresh possibilities,
and courage to embrace a different future.
Restore once more our faith and trust in you.
Amen.

Antiphon

     O Life –Shaping Potter, Come

 Scripture

Isaiah 64:8b  We are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.

Prayerful Reflection

O Life-Shaping Potter, Come~
Mold us into your Advent people
as we make ready for the coming of Christ.
Form us into empty vessels and
let every heart prepare him room,
let every mind clear him space,
let every soul invite him in.
Pour into us the
hope, peace, joy and love
of Jesus
as we journey towards the celebration
of his birth.
Amen.

Welcome to Advent 2017

Start preparing for the first Sunday of Advent, December 3rd by reading the daily reflections that begin tomorrow. They are based on the scriptures from the Revised Common Lectionary.  Also – each prayer has some reference to a Christmas / Advent carol in int.

I pray these prayers will deepen your Advent journey and make more meaningful your celebration of Christ’s birth!

Blessings,

Susi
