Traditional Antiphon
O Radiant Dawn, Come

Psalm 80:3  Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved. (NRSV)

Prayerful Reflection

O Radiant Dawn, Come~
Our hearts long for the light on this,
the darkest day of the year.
The night looms long and difficult.
Our worries overwhelm us,
our loneliness is intensified
our fears grow bigger.
Hold us tightly, tenderly
until sunrise,
when the dawn comes
with the promise of light,
the promise of a new day.
We start anew each morning
in your promise of salvation, of forgiveness.
Let your face shine upon us
as we embrace the gift of this day.

From the hymn “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”

O come, thou Dayspring, come and cheer,
Our spirits by thine advent here,
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death’s dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to you, O Israel!
