O Everlasting Word, Come
Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
O Everlasting Word, Come~
At the dawn of time,
your word spoke the cosmos into creation.
At the appointed time,
your word was made real in the person of Jesus.
At this moment in time,
your word still speaks through your holy voice.
Teach us to be still so as to know you,
and to hear:
your whisper of hope,
your longing for love,
your dream of peace.
Grant that our lives might become
your word given voice once again,
speaking justice, healing and hope
to the world today.

O Ancient Mercy, Come
Psalm 25:6 Be mindful of your mercy, O God, and of your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.
O Ancient Mercy, Come~
and save us once again.
Turn us toward you
as we seek your forgiveness
for the times we have not lived
mercifully and generously in this world.
Remind us that we are
awash in your compassion
and soaked in your grace.
Anchor our hope in your promise
of steadfast love from of old.
Forgive us, redeem us, reclaim us,
faithfully accompanying us and guiding us
into the future.

O Giver of Abundant Love, Come
1 Thessalonians 3:12 . . . and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another
and to all people . . .
O Giver of Abundant Love, Come~
Grant that our own hearts might be
transplanted with yours.
Open us, soften us,
that as easily as we can love
those who love us, those who are like us,
those who believe as we do,
we would grow to love others as well.
May we embrace
those whose actions we cannot understand,
those whose stories we cannot imagine,
those whose ways we find different and foreign.
Fill us with your abundant love,
that your hope for peace among all your children
would fill us and flow from us,
through our prayers, words and deeds,
and be realized in this world.
O Righteous Branch, Come
Jeremiah 33:15 In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David . . .
O Righteous Branch, Come~
Spring up from the unexpected places of our past
and blossom into hope for the future.
Let our yesterdays become nourishment
for the fruits of our tomorrows.
Make us stronger and wiser,
that each new day,
we might grow towards becoming
the persons you created us to be.
Rooted in your hope,
branching toward your light,
strengthened and nourished by your love,
may we plant seeds that will
produce a harvest
of righteousness and peace.
Monday – November 26
O Rewarder of the Patient, Come
Psalm 25:3 Let none that wait for you be put to shame . . .
O Rewarder of the Patient, Come~
We begin this Advent season
longing to know your presence.
We yearn for hope where there is despair,
peace where there is rancor,
joy where there is sadness,
love where there is division.
Grant us a patient, yet active,
spirit of hopefulness
as we journey through these weeks.
Fill us with the desire to:
devote ourselves to quiet prayer,
commit ourselves to intentional preparation,
and offer ourselves to loving service.
May we know your immanent presence
more deeply each day
as we patiently await your coming.
